Less residual moisture with Vacubelt® 2015
The name says it all: with Vacubelt® 2015 the business unit WEAVEinMotion of GKD – Gebr. Kufferath AG proudly presents a new generation of filter media for vacuum belt filters. "We have significantly improved the belt types 2025 und 2035 that are used with great success in gypsum filtration after flue gas desulphurisation," explains Kurt Widdau, the business unit manager.

Electricity generation at coal-fired power stations produces flue gas. One of the methods used to clean this flue gas in an environmentally compatible way is the flue gas desulphurisation plant (FGDP). After initial removal of the fly ash, the flue gas is desulphurised in large scrubbers through chemical reaction with a lime sorbent. This binds the sulphur in a watery gypsum slurry, which is then treated and dewatered on a filter belt in a vacuum belt filter plant. The process puts extremely high demands on the functionality, material properties and stability of the filter belts.
